UST Campus to Host PPCRV Transparency Server in Polls

The University of Santo Tomas (UST) will soon host the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) and Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) transparency server for the 2022 state and local elections.

Electoral Commission (Comelec) spokesman James Jimenez said the Transparency Server will be moved to the UST Quad Arena facility in España, Manila for the first time from its previous location at the Pope Catholic Center. Pius XII in Paco, Manila, which hosted him in previous polls.

This was confirmed by PPCRV President Emeritus Henrietta T. De Villa in a television interview on Wednesday.

She said they chose to move the server as well as their election command center as they will need additional space to meet minimum health standards amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

“The space and size in [Pope] Pius XII is no longer sufficient for our needs,” de Villa said.

The PPCRV official said the facility at UST can accommodate at least 5,000 people, which she said was enough space for them to implement social distancing for the media, who will cover their operations. as well as their volunteers.

“We can ensure that social distancing protocols will be implemented. It also has additional facilities in the floor [of the arena] and below, which suit the needs of the command center, especially in times of a pandemic,” said De Villa.

The transparency server “mirrors” the election results received by Comelec’s central server and then distributes them to political parties, the PPCRV and the media in real time.

Its creation complies with the provision of Republic Act 9369 or the Automated Election System Act.
