The Grove Guelph Wellington hosts a free workshop for parents on “The Teenage Brain”

The Grove Guelph Wellington will be hosting a free workshop on Tuesday, February 15 from 7-8:30 p.m. for parents and caregivers to learn about “The Adolescent Brain”.

The Grove, in partnership with the Canadian Mental Health Association Waterloo Wellington (CMHA WW), shared in a press release that they have seen demand for youth mental health services increase by 40% in 2021, with sadness, anxiety, bad mood and depression on the rise.

Here are three things you need to know about the workshop:

Experts Terra Venator, Registered Social Worker and Mental Health Clinician at The Grove, and Monica Hinrichs, Registered Social Worker and Clinical Practice Leader of Children’s Services and Mental Health Clinician at the Canadian Mental Health Association Waterloo Wellington (CMHA WW) will discuss the adolescent brain — a young, vibrant and powerful organ that organizes itself to prepare for adulthood.

An introduction to understanding the adolescent brain, background: adolescent developmental tasks, the role of caregivers in supporting adolescent brain development, and a Q&A discussion with parents.

Reserve a spot by emailing [email protected] with your name and phone number, as well as the names and emails of those who will be attending with them.
