Day to celebrate seniors

The Leir House Cultural in Penticton will be celebrating with a special seniors day next weekend.

On June 11, the Penticton & District Community Arts Council is delighted to welcome the community to the event, which will close the official Seniors Week in the city.

The PDCAC has partnered with Leir House, the Penticton Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, the Penticton Potters’ Guild and PDCAC Artists in Residence to create a day of activities and performances.

Joining artists from the current exhibition as well as Carol Munro and Alice Strohmaier of Artsy Aging with Alice.

No registration required for this free event, and there will be giveaways throughout the day.

Inside the Leir House:

  • 11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.: Open Studio with the artists in residence of the PDCAC
  • 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Pottery Demo with the Penticton Potters Guild
  • 1 to 3 p.m.: Performance by the trio of 5 from the Penticton Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts
  • 1 to 3 p.m.: Encaustic painting demonstration with CanwaxWest
  • 1-4 p.m.: Play with Clay at the Penticton Potters Guild

Land of the Leir house:

  • 1-3 p.m.: Public Knitting Day with Yarn Yakkers, Tuesday Afternoon Fiber Artists (TAFA), and First Friday Felts
  • 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.: Collaborative painting with Alice
