Leaseweb Global expands its presence in Canada with the acquisition of cloud hosting

Cloud services company Leaseweb Global expands its presence in the North American region by acquiring one of the most popular cloud hosting providers in Canada.

Founded in 1996 and previously part of INAP, iWeb was purchased by Leaseweb this week for an undisclosed amount.

The firm offers dedicated servers and cloud hosting from its three data centers based in Montreal.

Following the acquisition, Leaseweb’s Canadian footprint will become the third largest international region in terms of revenue, behind the Netherlands and the United States.

Con Zwinkels, CEO of Leaseweb Global, said the company has been following the development of iWeb for several years.

“As a company with a very similar DNA to ours, we know it will bring a wide range of complementary services and skills to our presence in Canada,” he added.

“They live and breathe accommodation, have a deep understanding of the requirements of Canadian customers, and we are delighted to welcome them to the Leaseweb team.

iWeb also provides global connectivity via peering from ISPs in Montreal and Tier 1 providers, providing users with dedicated servers, private cloud, security and colocation services.

“Today is a very exciting day for iWeb employees, customers and partners. We are joining a team that is focused on product, growth and customer experience, ”said Roberto Montesi, CEO of iWeb.

“We have long admired Leaseweb as a competitor. Now, as colleagues, we look forward to rapidly rolling out new offerings in our Montreal location to match Leaseweb’s portfolio.

“This is an exciting step on our journey and ensures that Canada becomes an important part of Leaseweb’s future success story. “

Organizations that need a market presence in North America, but need to host their data outside of the United States, should benefit from the move, according to the company.

Powered by 99% renewable hydroelectricity, iWeb’s solutions host thousands of servers for its customers in many industries and sectors.
