Iowa DNR and Travel Iowa Host Day One Hiking Challenge | KCII Radio – The Only One You Can Trust

As the residents of Southeastern Iowa celebrate the New Year, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Travel Iowa invite everyone to join them on a hike in the State Parks of the Iowa.

The 2022 Day One Ride Challenge gives residents the option of touring state parks with the free Iowa State Park Passport mobile app on their own or by joining park staff for a guided hike. Park visitors can check-in at over 50 state parks and forests with the app from December 31 to January 2. Over 20 parks and forests will host guided hikes on New Year’s Day, some featuring hot chocolate and snacks. Although Darling Lake State Park does not have a guided tour, residents are still encouraged to come and kick off the New Year on their trails and other amenities. Each check-in with the passport app will be eligible for a draw for a two-night stay in a two-bedroom cabin in Lake Darling. For a list of guided day one hike events, visit here.
