Incoming server shutdowns for four EA games

EA will shut down the servers for three Xbox 360 Command & Conquer games in November, as well as the servers for Mercenaries 2: World in Flames, resulting in the shutdown of 22 achievements.

Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, its standalone expansion Command & Conquer: Kane’s Wrath, Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, and Mercenaries 2: World in Flames will have their servers shut down on November 9.

Four Xbox 360 games will soon be subject to server shutdowns

If you’re hoping to earn the completions for each of the games facing server shutdowns, you still have some time, but it will take some work to get right. If you don’t already own Mercenaries 2: World in Flames, unfortunately you’ll have to miss out unless you buy a disc copy, as it’s no longer available through the Xbox Store.

Looking at estimated completion times, it takes between 120 and 150 hours to earn all achievements in Command & Conquer: Tiberium Wars. That’s no surprise when the game’s No Life achievement requires you to spend 100 hours playing in multiplayer matches. Four of the game’s 22 achievements require access to EA’s servers and will be discontinued in November. Confused Shelf has a great walkthrough for you to follow if you want to get through the game as quickly as possible.

Command & Conquer: Kane’s Wrath achievements feature 11 online-only achievements out of the 44 available, and should take 60-80 hours to complete. Unlike Tiberium Wars above, Kane’s Wrath doesn’t contain any achievements that require surprisingly high time commitments, but Confused Shelf’s walkthrough suggests you find a challenging partner to get through the multiplayer achievements.

There is a slightly faster completion estimate of 40-50 hours for Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 achievements, which includes three online-only achievements. It’s also worth noting that EarnaP’s walkthrough suggests that it’s much easier to find a reinforcement partner to earn a host of the game’s diverse achievements, as AI-driven skirmishes can be “extremely difficult”.

Moving away from the Command & Conquer series, the latest game facing server shutdowns on November 9 is Mercenaries 2: World in Flames. If you don’t already own this one, you’ll need to grab a disc copy if you want to get the completion, as it’s been removed from the Xbox Store. There is no walkthrough available for Mercenaries 2: World in Flames achievements, but estimates place completion times between 40 and 50 hours. Five of the game’s 40 achievements are online-only, so you’ll probably need to find a boost partner for this one.

Boosting will be the quickest method of unlocking the above online achievements, so we recommend checking our session schedule to see if anyone is hosting slots for the above games – or perhaps you’d like you create a session yourself?
