Gators secure hosting rights for first and second rounds of NCAA tournament

Florida is 16th overall and will host the first and second rounds on December 2-3.

GAINESVILLE, Fla .– Florida received the number 16 seed in the NCAA tournament on Sunday night, as the Division I women’s volleyball selection committee revealed the 64-team field on an ESPNU television broadcast.

This is the 27th time in the program’s history that the Gators have won the hosting rights for the first weekend of the NCAA tournament. With the selection, Florida extends its streak to 31 straight appearances in the NCAA tournament, the third longest streak in the country (Penn State – 41, Nebraska – 40).

Florida hosts its NCAA First and Second Round games on Thursday and Friday. The Gators face Florida A&M on Thursday at 7 p.m., while Miami and South Alabama meet at 4:30 p.m. The winners of each match will face off on Friday at 7 p.m.

Last season – the Gators made it to the program’s 16th regional championship – losing to No.1 Wisconsin in a thrilling five-set battle.

Florida finished the 2021 regular season with a 20-8 overall record and a 14-4 league record.

Current holders of reserved volleyball season tickets can now order their current seats by logging into their Florida Gators account and will have until 5 p.m. ET Monday to reclaim their current reserved seats for the NCAA first and second round games. For general admission season ticket holders, as well as the general public, general admission tickets for the first and second rounds of the NCAA will go on sale Monday at 8 a.m. online (follow this link to purchase) , at the Gator Box Office, located between Gates 1 and 2 of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, or by calling the Gator Box Office at 352-375-4683. All tickets reserved for the unclaimed season will go on sale from Tuesday at 8:30 am.
